Mars by Max Sauze

Anodized aluminium slats in off white lacquered metal frame and bakelite socket. Vintage condition; paint loss on metal frame and natural patina on aluminum.

The Mars pendant by the French-Algerian artist and designer Max Sauze is an ingenious light fixture created in the early 70's. Sauze was inspired by natural processes and structures, such as the division of cells in DNA. His metal constructions, often consisting of the same basic elements, are characterized by the multiplication of a shape in various directions. Whether large or small, simple or complex, each one of his designs displays visual harmony and creates a beautiful play of light.
