Chrome SEMI lamp by Claus Bonderup & Torsten Thorup

€0.00

chromed metal, white lacquered on the inside. Good vintage condition.

The widely loved Semi, produced by Fog & Mørup and later Lyfa, was created in 1968 while Claus Bonderup & Torsten Thorup were still students.

The design won the Royal Danish Academy’s first prize and was very well received at the lighting fair in Milan. What makes this pendant so unique and immensely popular is the simplicity of its geometrical form: a perfect lampshade brought back to the essence of its purpose. The Semi derives its name from the way it was drawn: The leftover shape between two half circles became the blueprint for an iconic design. This chrome version gives a special mirror effect.

We have cleaned the lamp in our professional workshop. There is a new wire in black fabric. You can choose the bulb - standard size E27.

About Bonderup & Thorup:

Bonderup (1943) and Thorup (1944) studied together at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture and kept working together for the greatest part of their career. They designed the Arktikum museum in Finland, watches and in-store displays for Georg Jensen, and one of their most impressive accomplishments was the realization of the entire harbour area in Helsingør in Denmark.
